Thank you for considering a contribution of your time and talents. We rely greatly on the generosity of caring volunteers to help fulfill our mission. There are many ways for individuals to get involved – from working on our construction site, to helping in our office, to joining a committee of interest. Construction Volunteers...
We invite you to work with us whether you are unskilled or semi-skilled.  Habitat supervisors will help you learn a task and work safely. We work on our construction sites Wednesday through Saturday year-round.  You can volunteer just once but we are particularly interested in volunteers who can contribute a day a week. Our regular weekly volunteers work on a variety of crews including:

Paint Crew- Our paint crew works one day a week painting the interior of Habitat houses.
Framing and finishing crews
Electrical crew
Rehab Crew- Habitat is now rehabbing houses.  Old houses can get a new lease on life through the efforts of our rehab crew who work one day a week.
Whole House Crew – Volunteers work one or two days a week to complete a house from start to finish.

We work on construction sites year round, Wednesday through Saturday 8:30a.m. – 3:30p.m.

Volunteers report to our construction center at 1631 Rowan Street at 8:30 a.m.

Construction Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

You may volunteer for new construction or rehabilitation projects.

All volunteers are required to sign a Waiver and Release of Liability Form. A parent or legal guardian’s signature is required if the volunteer is under 18 years of age.

You may bring your own tools although it isn’t necessary, please label them if you do.

From time to time, we also use DeConstruction Volunteers to go into buildings and remove items that can be sold in ReStore to help create a sustainable income for Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville. No construction experience is necessary, but you must be able to do physical activity and follow directions.

Other Volunteer Opportunities...

ReStore Volunteers:

Habitat ReStore is a thrift store selling new and gently used building materials, furniture, tools and appliances.  Customer service volunteers are the life-blood of the store – helping customers with questions throughout the store, tagging sold items and processing and pricing new merchandise.  Donation crew volunteers collect and unload donations. Deconstruction volunteers help strip and remove reusable, re-sellable or recyclable materials from residential and commercial buildings.

Office Support Volunteers:

Office support volunteers assist with answering the phones, mailings, data entry, filing and various other administrative projects.

Budget Tutors:

Budget tutors work with partner families in teaching basic money management.  Classes are held in the evening.

Special Events:

Volunteers create and plan special events to raise funds for our mission, recruit additional volunteers and increase community awareness.

Habitat Committees:

Church Relations – Invites, speaks and encourages congregations to participate in Habitat’s housing ministry.

Communication and Technology - Coordinates educational and promotional efforts for Habitat through all types of media.  The committee is responsible for the quarterly newsletter, website and social media, brochures, the annual report, and direct mailings.

Construction – Responsible for the supervision, quality, and safety of the construction of Habitat houses.  The committee determines best practice techniques and makes recommendations on material, tool and design specifications.

Development – Locates and develops the resources Habitat needs to build houses.  It raises funds, solicits in-kind donations, and facilitates special events.

Family Advocates – Works as a liaison between partner families and Habitat.  Members assist families in their transition from renter to homeowner.  Committee members recruit and train family advocates, coordinate ground blessing and house dedication ceremonies and organize homeowner skills workshops.
